Best bets for Sunday July 3:
BEST GAME
The game: USFL Championship parlay, stallions (-4½) on stars, plus total points on
Odds/bet: +100 ($20 to earn $50)
The book: Caesars Sportsbook
Time/TV: 6:30 p.m. (fox)
Our opinion : The USFL’s inaugural season ends tonight in the championship game between the Philadelphia Stars and Birmingham Stallions. The Stars, who finished the regular season at 6-4, upset the New Jersey Generals last week in a 19-14 win.
Meanwhile, the Stallions come into the game after a two-touchdown win over the New Orleans Breakers. The last time these two teams met was in Week 5, when the Stallions beat the Stars 30-17.
We see a game in the same scoring range and the total final score to reach above the 45½ over/under line set for the game. Expect Stallions quarterback J’Mar Smith to have a big game, and there’s just not enough consistency from the Stars quarterback to trust them to win the game.
It should be a fun game to watch, though, as we enter our final month before the college and NFL seasons begin.
HOW FAR WE GOTOF
Saturday’s best bets
- PGA John Deere Classic, Denny McCarthy better third round than JT Poston (WINS $30)
- MLB Money Line, San Diego Padres vs. Los Angeles Dodgers ($10 LOSS)
Saturday profit/loss: +$20 (1-1)
Also lost two pending bets, Iga Swiatek to win Wimbledon from Wednesday and Wimbledon money-line parlay from Tuesday (LOST $60)
Total for this week: -$97.10 (4-9, 1 pending)
Total for July: -$14.85 (3-4)
Total for 2022: +$39.70 (170-182, 1 pending)
REMARK: If a line or odds are negative, it considers the juice needed to place the bet. Ex: Team A is at -160 on the money line, you would have to bet $160 to win $100 (or $16 to win $10). OR Team B is a 5 point favorite at -110, you would have to bet $110 to win $100 (or $11 to win $10.)
Conversely, on the positive lines, if Team C is at +140 on the money line, a $100 will win $140 (or $10 to win $14).
